It was beautiful. And exhausting. And beautiful again.
After everything wrapped up, I found myself outside on the deck at my parents’ house, just chilling with my 3-year-old daughter, Kayla. She wanted to watch something, so I pulled up Rugrats on my phone — the same show I used to love as a kid. We’ve been going through a few of those old cartoons together lately, and it’s been one of those unexpectedly special things we now share.
We started with Season 1, Episode 1 — “Tommy’s First Birthday.”
At first, it was just fun nostalgia. But watching it now, as a dad, hit me differently. Tommy’s voice, his baby smile, the whole vibe — it brought me back. But then it brought me forward too.
I had this sudden moment like,
“Aw, a one-year-old baby.”
Then it hit me.
I have a one-year-old baby.
Right inside the house.
So I grabbed Kayla’s hand and we went inside. I picked up my son — my actual one-year-old baby — and just looked at him. And her. And my parents. And all I could feel was this deep, quiet wave of appreciation.
This is it.
This is the life.
Right in front of me.
So here’s your gentle reminder: Keep working. Keep creating. But don’t move so fast that you miss the beauty sitting right beside you, asking to watch an old cartoon.
Slow down when it matters.
We’re not just chasing dreams. We’re already living one.
So… what’s next?
A little more presence. A little more softness. A little more now.
🎹 Chord Progression of the Week
This week’s progression is about stillness, memory, and the kind of gratitude that sneaks up on you when you’re not looking:
Cmaj7 → Am7 → Dm9 → Gsus4
The Cmaj7 opens with calm reflection, the Am7 brings gentle nostalgia, the Dm9 feels like a deep breath, and the Gsus4 suspends everything for just a moment — before circling back to peace.
Loop it while the sun sets.
Or while you watch Rugrats with someone you love.
Until next time — keep progressing.
