🚲 A Ride Worth Remembering
Khord Progressions – June 5, 2025
Today, I had a pretty unforgettable experience.
I haven’t ridden a bike in over 20 years. Not a typo. Two decades.
And this week I’ve had the flu, so I’ve been taking it easy. But today — day two of starting to feel more like myself — I decided to get outside for a walk.
There’s a place in New Jersey called Duke Farms. I hadn’t been there in a while, and it felt like the right spot. So I went.
As I started walking, I noticed a sign about bike rentals. I’d seen it before, but never acted on it. Today, something said: Why not?
I called the number on the board, got directions (“straight, then right, past the roofless statue structure… under the white tent”), and went on a little walking adventure to find the rental area.
And then — something clicked.
I paid. Put my helmet on. Got the seat adjusted.
The staff gave me quick directions and suddenly… I was off.
From the second my feet hit the pedals, I felt like I was inside a video game or dream.
The breeze. The soft shade. The sun peeking through the trees. The reverse-pedaling bike with handbrakes. It felt smooth, nostalgic, unreal.
I couldn’t stop smiling.
It was like being a character inside a game or movie.
More than a moment — it was a memory being made, in real time.
I rode through the winding paths, visited the meditation garden, and ended at the arboretum — a breathtaking space that somehow made me feel both small and expansive.
And I knew then:
I had to share this moment with you.
It reminded me how important it is to say yes to new things.
To fun. To whimsy. To rest.
To injecting joy on purpose, especially when life feels heavy.
So… what’s next?
I think it’s time I buy a bike.
🎹 Chord Progression of the Week
This week’s progression is about rediscovery, lightness, and the kind of joy that sneaks up on you when you least expect it:
Fmaj7 → G6 → Em7 → Am9
There’s a soft openness in the Fmaj7, a rising spark in the G6, and a warm glide through Em7 into the dreamy Am9.
It’s a progression that feels like motion — like wind in your face, sun through the trees, and the kind of smile you didn’t know was coming.
Try looping it gently, like a ride you don’t want to end.
Until next time — keep progressing.
